Our New Clinic is Open!
Posted by Ja-On

Yes! We have relocated to the heart of downtown Brandon! Our new location is at 640 Rosser Avenue occupying the entire ground floor of the 100 year old Trade Fair Exchange building. This is a very exciting move for us as we are sharing the 3800 sq. ft. ground floor level with Brandon Acupuncture, Chinese Massage and Herbal Centre.

Be sure to watch the website for exciting new additions in the new year such as yoga, group training sessions with TRX units, reiki, and the return of the Wellington College Student Clinic!

First Year of Osteopathy is Over!
Posted by Ja-On

First year of osteopathy has come and gone, and despite the massive amount of knowledge that was picked up through class and osmosis (sleeping on textbooks), I find that I am still the same person looking for the answers.

I have changed my treatment protocol, even shied away from doing deep tissue work (gasp, right?) but I still have clients coming to me. Unfortunately, no more relaxing massages, but that cranial work will make you snore within seconds. No more ‘it hurts so good‘, but a lot more of ‘it hurts no more‘.

But what was first year all about? Here’s a few highlights:

1.) Stop searching and feel. Let the body tell you what it wants, It knows better than you.

2.) If it doesn’t work, you are doing it wrong, or at the wrong time.

3.) Search for the primary dysfunction, not the symptoms.

4.) French guys are cool, especially when they have squeaky shoes. 50-50.

Of course I learned more, but that can’t be just explained, so stop in for a visit, and experience it yourself.

But what the Heck is Osteopathy?
Posted by Ja-On

Osteopathy(Current Study)

My favorite question is, “But, what the heck is osteopathy?” Partly because I get asked that daily, but also because I am still learning what it is myself! I’m being honest, I still have a lot to learn, but what I have learned is amazing.

There is a lot of misinformation and dubious claims put forward about osteopathy, and it’s usually done by the misinformed. It’s too bad really, since Osteopathy has a genuine benefit to it. But, when I hear people claim that it cures disease, and heals the body… I cringe.

The Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners states that the “Osteopath applies the knowledge of the structure and function of the body, to all diseases, disorders, and dysfunctions.” An Osteopath doesn’t cure or heal, but we can help the body. They don’t replace a Medical Doctor, massage therapist, physiotherapist or any other professional. They simply use their knowledge to help people.

Osteopaths help people, and isn’t that what life is really all about?

What is a Student Massage?
Posted by Ja-On

Booking an appointment with a massage student is helping a new up and coming therapist learn and perfect their art of massage. All the students have completed their relaxation massage education and are very knowledgeable in what they do!

The students do appreciate any feedback, so please be sure to let them know if you want more pressure or less pressure.

It’s a great way to relax and de-stress for an hour, and the best part is that the massage only costs $25.00! Do yourself a favour and see a student for a massage.
